Ireland -- Land of leprecauns, rainbows, pots o' gold, lucky shamrocks, and so much more! It's a great place to visit -- beautiful scenery and friendly people everywhere. How can you not smile when greeted by someone with an Irish brogue! :) I visited Ireland for nine glorious days with my good friends Riv and Linda. With our old (1997) Fodor's travel guide in hand, it was easy to visit sites such as Waterford crystal factory, Blarney Castle, etc., without having to be on a guided tour. Driving a rental car on the "wrong" side of the road was quite an experience, too! And the Bed & Breakfast accommodations that we found on our own (on the Internet) were clean, comfortable, and affordable. Northern Ireland was just as pleasant as the Republic of Ireland, and the trip to Giant's Causeway was definitely worth it. I only wish we'd had more time!
